Betainfluenzavirus

A genus of the family ORTHOMYXOVIRUS causing HUMAN INFLUENZA and other diseases primarily in humans. In contrast to INFLUENZAVIRUS A, no distinct antigenic subtypes of hemagglutinin (VIRAL HEMAGGLUTININ) and NEURAMINIDASE are recognized. The type species is INFLUENZA B VIRUS.
