A plant species of the family PAPAVERACEAE. The common name greater celandine is similar to lesser celandine (Ficaria verna), and celandine poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum). It has been used in folk medicine and its latex contains biologically active compounds including BENZOPHENANTHRIDINES alkaloids (e.g., Chelerythrine).
