A ligand for RECEPTOR PROTEIN-TYROSINE KINASES AXL, TYRO3 and MERTK through which it regulates cell growth and survival of ENDOTHELIAL CELLS; CELL ADHESION; and CELL MIGRATION. GAS6 also has critical roles in the development of NATURAL KILLER CELLS and PLATELET ACTIVATION.
