A blowfly species in the genus Lucilia. Lucilia sericata is the most often used species for MAGGOT THERAPY and is responsible for sheep blowfly strike (MYIASIS) in northern Europe. Can form hybrids with Australian sheep blowfly, LUCILIA CUPRINA.
